COVID 19 Club Update

Dear Victorian Golf Clubs and Facilities,

As you are aware, COVID-19 or the Coronavirus as it is more commonly known has created global health concerns regarding the disease and its infection rates.

Golf Australia is writing to provide further assistance and guidance to our clubs and facilities on this important topic.

Government Announcement 30th July, 2020 – Mandatory Face Coverings – Whole of Victoria

On Thursday the 30th of July, the Victorian Government announced that from 11.59pm on Sunday the 2nd of August that wearing a mask or face covering will become mandatory when you leave home in all areas of Victoria.

Operations Advice

Based on verbal advice provided by the Victorian DHHS, Golf Australia recommends the following:

  • All golfers must wear a face covering or face mask when playing golf across Victoria, unless they are affected by a relevant medical condition such as breathing difficulties (e.g. Asthma), a serious skin condition on the face, a disability or a mental health condition.
  • GA strongly recommends that all clubs/facilities direct players, staff and volunteers to wear a face covering that must stay on whilst at the club/facility and if playing, for the duration of their round.
  • It is recommended that upon arrival all players are asked to wear a face covering and are asked to leave the facility immediately if they are not wearing a face covering, unless they are affected by a relevant medical condition.
  • It is recommended that clubs/facilities seek a medical certificate or other proof of exemption for players who state they have a valid reason not to wear a face covering.
  • All club/facility employees and volunteers must wear a face covering whilst at the club/facility. It is the responsibility of clubs/facilities to ensure that employees and volunteers are wearing a face covering while at the club/facility.
  • Face coverings can be removed while eating and drinking.

If further information is released, Golf Australia will communicate to clubs/facilities as quickly as practicable.
